My name is Kaye Mao and I'm an Interaction Design student at Sheridan College.
I believe in the power of design to change the world and in humanity to be receptive. I believe in endless learning, in failing hard, in critiques. And I believe that if you are going to do something, then do it well.

First things first: Research. The end user, competition, other designers, tutorials, anything and everything. I want to learn as much as I can about the brief.
You know what's better than learning from your own mistakes? Learning from the mistakes of others.
At this stage I define my context & design problem, then create personas & scenarios.
Research and thoughts become mind maps & brainstorms. Ideas are scribbled down and sketches are small and drawn in rapid successions.
Concepts are reviewed, evaluated, & tossed. A few rough gems of concepts are selected as the seed for further ideation until a final concept is chosen. Then it's cue wireframes.
The chosen concept is polished with the appropriate tool, be it photoshop, illustrator, code, autocad, or pen and paper, the idea dictates the strategy and tools.
I do whatever I need to do to get it done. Whether that means spending a night on Lynda, calling a friend, or hitting the library, there are no excuses.
